You shape the fund without touching a single trade:

So can you ever step in?
You steer by changing the rules, not by overriding individual trades. That's deliberate: a fund that runs itself only works if it runs consistently, without you second-guessing it bet by bet. You direct the strategy; the CEO carries it out.
