How your CEO decides

Every trade your CEO places has walked the same pipeline: scan, research, estimate, compare, gate, size, place, write. No step is skippable, every step leaves a trace, and the discipline is the strategy.

o Opusfund
The short version

Your CEO scans inside your mandate, researches until it has an estimate of its own, passes the idea through your gates, sizes it, places it, and writes down why. Every trade leaves a trail.

The interesting thing about your CEO’s decisions is not that an AI makes them. It is that they are all the same decision, run again and again on different markets, with a discipline no tired human sustains. Here is the pipeline, step by step, exactly as your money experiences it.

01Scan, inside your mandate

The day starts wide: sweep the markets your mandate allows, and only those. If you said “soccer, and within that only Barcelona,” the rest of the board might as well not exist. From the sweep, a shortlist: markets moving on news, prices that look out of step with evidence, resolutions approaching. Attention is the first allocated resource.

02Research, then an estimate of its own

For each shortlisted market the CEO does the reading a careful analyst would, sources, base rates, resolution rules twice, and commits to its own probability before comparing with the market’s. Estimate first, price second: it keeps the crowd’s number from anchoring the research. The comparison then asks the only question that pays: is there a gap, and can it be named and sourced? Fair prices are folded without regret, the fund never bets a price it believes is fair.

03Gates, then size

A live edge earns a candidate bet, and the candidate now faces your frame. Conviction below your floor? Stays research. Bumps a cap on bet size, theme, or period? Shrinks or dies. Clears everything? It gets sized, more conviction, more capital, never past the ceilings, with exits written at entry. Big enough to matter by your definition, it waits for your sign-off. The gates are checks in code, not suggestions in a prompt: every bet clears the gates against your caps before it moves.

04Place, then write it down

Execution is craft, resting orders when patience is cheap, crossing the spread when the edge is running, and then the step that makes the whole pipeline auditable: the write-up. What was bought, at what price, on what reasoning, with what conviction, exiting where and why. It lands in the morning memo, next to yesterday’s scorecard. You can challenge any line of it, any morning.

💡

Ideas are cheap; the pipeline is the asset. A mediocre idea that walked every step is safer than a brilliant one that skipped the gates, and in your fund, nothing skips the gates.

What to remember

  • It scans only inside the mandate you’ve written.
  • It forms its own estimate before comparing to the market price.
  • Ideas pass your gates, then get sized Floor and caps first.
  • Every trade is placed and then explained in the memo.

Eight steps between an idea and your money. Watch them all.
